Mormon Helping Hands

Last Saturday a whole bunch of youth and adults from our ward participated in Mormon Helping Hands, a huge multi-stake day of service.

We all got to the Stake Center parking lot at 8am  ready to serve wherever needed.

We were given yellow vests or t-shirts then divided into teams and sent off to different locations.  Our ward was split into two groups.  One went to the Habitat for Humanity warehouse, and the other went to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

At the Habitat for Humanity warehouse, we were asked to organize the warehouse.  That included moving large items, unpacking, organizing, putting up shelves, and anything else that needed doing.
Hammer in hand, ready for action.

Happy to help.

Not really sure how this was helpful.

When we're helping, we're happy.

Working together.

What a great group of people in the finished, spic and span warehouse!  They all worked hard and had a wonderful time doing it!  Isn't is amazing how laughter make light work?

Over at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, which had recently had a devastating fire, the Mormon helping hands were asked to organize and line all the shelves of the huge, garage sized building that stores all the food donations.  It was quite a task!

We had to unload all the shelves, line them with cardboard, then load them up again, this time organized.  Everything had been put on the shelves haphazardly, and there were piles of boxes with random donated food that had to be gone through as well.

Optimistic!  Its a big job, but we can do it!

We're here to serve!

Yep, she's one tough cookie.

Lets just get through one shelf at a time!

Lotsa Pasta!

Working together

The transformation was amazing!  But we all had a great time at both locations, and the people there we all so grateful!  Our youth all did a great job and worked non stop.  What a wonderful and caring group of young men and young women we have!
Lets give these Mormon Helping Hands a big hand!
