Siesta Fiesta!

This weekend ten muchachas, and a few senoras, from the BDYW got together for a sizzlin' good time at out Siesta Fiesta leadership overnight retreat at the beautiful Marriott villas.

The girls started their fiesta weekend with what else?  Nachos.  The heat from the spicy cheese and jalapenos warmed them up just enough to face the rainy weather for a dip in the pool and spa (mostly spa).

Then our training began.  Sis. V talked about callings in the church, why we have them, and what the Lord expects from us.  We also talked about what it means to be a leader.  Christ is our example of true leadership, and we need to lead as he did.

Three darling gals!  One is a leader.  Pretty hard to tell which, huh?

Then, even while our tongues were still burning from our nachos, came dinner!

Holy Guacamole!  Carnitas!  The food was fantastico!

Deliciosio!

Pinata Time!
Diving for candy.  Ole!

It is never easy to watch a poor little burro beaten with a stick and decapitated.

Sis. V talked about how when we have a pinata, we all take turns working hard to hit the pinata, and how when the candy finally comes out, we all search and search until we find every last piece of candy.   It is like that with trying to reactivate the girls in our classes.  We all can work as hard as we can individually in our efforts of contacting and inviting the girls who are missing, and we need to go after every single girl - leave none behind.  In our pinata there was even a little doll.  She represented the "one" that was lost, and now was found - the friend who isn't with us, but will be as soon as we all start working at it.

Then two of our wonderful girls talked to us about the importance of having a good attitude.  They should know, those gals are always up!

We also had an activity planning brainstorming session.

Then Sis. M talked to us about unity.  She explained that we are all different flowers, and all together we make a stunning bouquet.

We made tissue flowers to remind us of the beautiful, colorful bouquet we are all making together that Sis. M talked about.  Every one of them was different, some were incredibly creative,...

and how terrific they all looked together!

Then the tempo of the fiesta really picked up with some Samba Samba on the wii.  Nothing lights up the night like a little Latin rhythm and the cha cha cha of maracas.

Shake 'em, girls!

Nothing like a good read in the tub!

After 50 flowers were made, and a whole lot of rattlin' and hip shakin', we all hit the sack!

We got to wake up to this!  Big Belgium waffles with heavenly homemade buttermilk syrup with fresh strawberries, and mangoes, for a Latin touch.

We are girls.  Let the boys have their foil dinners on their overnighters.  If was are gonna eat, we are gonna eat in style!

Way better than IHOP!
Of course, several more rounds of Samba.

Happy together.

A little excursion around the grounds.

We invited Sis. B to come take pictures of the girls for us.  She is such a talented photographer and gave each beautiful girl a few minutes of paparazzi time.  Smile!  Click.  Click.  Click.

Then we packed up and cleared out and headed over to the stake center for the stake YW sports day.  Volleyball.

We had a great time together, but we really missed the girls that couldn't come.  The young women in BD are the best!
