Last Wednesday was our wonderful Young Women in Excellence program. The theme was "Always Abounding in Good Works."
So many of the girls and their parents came. The young women sang a special song that we have been practicing just for this evening called "Little Things." It sounded absolutely beautiful! They did a lovely job.
Then a few girls stood up to report on some of the good works the Bermuda Dunes Young Women have done this year. Then Sister V. gave a talk about little things, and the power small acts of service can have, followed by a few remarks from the bishop.
A few girls worked at knitting loom hats for newborn babies.
At another table, girls and parents were busy coloring, cutting, and laminating visual aids for next year's Primary theme sharing times. We even got the dads in the act cutting things out.
The whole evening was about little things that mean a lot, like coloring a heart for the Primary.
We had so much fun working and visiting, girls alongside their parents and leaders. We got so much accomplished in that short time because of all the little things each person did that together was a lot.
Both Sister W., the primary president, and Sister B., the Relief Society president have expressed how grateful they were for our service. We have really lightened both of their loads, served the members of our ward, and had fun at the same time.
Oh, and don't forget the fabulous refreshments - the pistachio and chocolate deserts not only fit the color theme perfectly, but were absolutely delicious!
It was a wonderful evening. Thanks to all the leaders who worked so hard to make it such a nice evening for our girls and their parents. Our young women really are excellent, and love to serve in little, and big ways.
